Welcome to Make Do and Mend Online!
We aim to bring customers to people producing bespoke craft items or offering services such as sewing. Please look through our products and services pages and if you see something that interests you please contact the seller using the contact details listed on their page.
If you make products at home, maybe sell them to your friends and family then this is your chance to expand. If you advertise on our site you get your own page with photos and details of your products for all to see. You will not have to incur the expense of setting up your own site, or paying for advertising but will get the benefit of our advertising and established site.
The original Make Do and Mend shop was set up in St Day, Cornwall in 2003 by Philippa Bray offering sewing services, bespoke clothing and craft items made by locals. The shop has been busy from the day it opened and in 2009 a second shop was opened in Penryn with a view to opening a couple of franchises over the next few years. If you are interested in a franchise please contact us through the site.
Whilst designing a website for the shop it occurred to us that it would be good to create a venue where buyers could look for bespoke unique craft products made just for them and people who make crafts in their free time could reach a wider audience. We noticed that most sites have several (in some cases hundreds) of people making the same or very similar products which not only creates a large amount of competition for the seller but makes it confusing for the buyer. When your search results bring up 50+ pages of products where do you start? We aim to get craft makers who make different products which complement each other, not compete with each other. This makes it easier for the buyer as they can go straight to what they are looking for and the craft maker does not have to worry that they may be so far down the listings that most customers may never see their product.
You do not buy the products direct through the site which means you do not need a credit/debit card or paypal account and do not have to worry about putting your financial information on the internet. You can discuss your requirements with the craft maker and agree a price, a time scale for the product to be made and arrangements for payment and collection/delivery of the item to best suit you.
Please have a good look around the site. Any queries please either contact the seller for a product query or contact Make Do and Mend Online either by e-mail through the site for general queries or site related queries
